What is a PCO Credit Hire Claim?
Contact us
A PCO credit hire claim is a service provided to licensed PCO drivers who are involved in a road accident that was not their fault. If your vehicle is damaged and you are unable to go to work, a credit hire company provides you with a replacement PCO vehicle usually comparable to your vehicle or on a like-for-like basis on credit and recovers the hire costs from the at-fault driver’s insurers. Instead of paying any upfront cost or waiting weeks for vehicle repairs, you can get back to work and daily tasks right away. The replacement vehicle meets all the legal standards to continue driving for PCO purpose, or any other rideshare platform you work with.

What do we require?
As a PCO driver, time off the road involves a loss of income. Waiting for your insurance company to sort things out could cost you hundreds of pounds. Credit hire companies help connect that gap so you are not left without earnings.
Here are some reasons credit hires are important:
- No Upfront Charges: You do not have to pay any charges for the replacement vehicle.
- Comparable Vehicles: You get a vehicle that matches your specifications like your damaged vehicle.
- Â Quick Processing: You may be back on the road in as little as 24 hours.
- Legal Assistance: Most credit hire companies work closely with legal firms to help you with your personal injury and vehicle damage claims.
You may be entitled to a PCO credit hire vehicle if:
- Registered PCO operator.
- The accident occurred through no fault of your own
- Â Vehicle is damaged and roadworthy.
- You depend on your vehicle for work and daily activities.
- If you meet these criteria, most credit hire companies will arrange a replacement vehicle for you and even help with gathering evidence to support your claim.
Once we are instructed by the claimant, we will first speak with the claimant who hired the replacement vehicle to discuss the claim and request necessary information, such as:
- Need for a hire vehicle
- How vehicle was used during hire.
- Details of approach to other vehicles
- Financial documents, the court, and the at-fault driver insurers will require evidence to review whether the client could afford to deal with their vehicle repairs or switch their vehicle.
- Details of any other losses are to be recovered from the at-fault driver insurers.

Our role in the claim.
Lane Credit Hire becomes involved in the claim when the credit hire company is unable to recover the credit hire charges from the fault insurance company due to liability disputes regarding allegations such as accident circumstances or the sum of the credit hire charges. The hire company will pass the claim to solicitors who will act on behalf of the hirer to recover the credit hire charges, which may include starting legal proceedings against the fault driver or their insurer to recover the outstanding amount. As the hirer is eventually liable for the hire charges, given that they had used the replacement vehicle, the claim must be passed in the hirer’s name.
